This book is packed with useful information! Nancy Mitchell successfully demystifies the student loan world. Highly recommended! JDH
There are lots of different Student Loans, and they all have different rules. Not all of them will forgive your loan if you go into teaching, and not all of them will let you wait until later to start repaying them.
This book is readable in a couple of hours, and describes all the loan types, how the repayment methods work, and a lot of the pitfalls you can fallinto by listening to "common wisdom" -- or sometimes even to the loan officer! The book does NOT describe how to get the loans in the first place, but has references to good sources for that part.
If you are heading to college and will need a loan, or if you are the parent of a student who will, get this book before you get the loan, and make the whole process a "non-event" instead of a nightmare. J. Walker
New Information about my old student loan adds more light to my future... thank you Ms Mitchell! Got several copies of this book for presents, as most everyone I know puzzles over the debits of studenthood.
In my practice as a clinical social worker, many people admit they've givenup hopes of engagement in higher education. Even though, it is logical that schooling leads to a better job. Repeatedly, we arrive at the same fact: Financial complexity has stopped all though on the subject.
The clear tone and concise quality of the informatin in this book serves as an easy invitation to continure thinking along with the author. her abundant knowledge in this area will surely help every new and old student borrower. Marilyn Hamlin "Associate Psychoanalyst"
